Christo de Klerk

Christo’s multimodal research work explores the use of information systems for articulating and authoring the city. His most recent projects include the mapping of noise complaints and graffiti removal in New York City – spatially navigating these data sets by bringing them back to the streets. He is currently working on a thesis project that involves mapping the everyday experience of geopolitical borders. This design research project that logs users’ perceptions of borders as they are crossed. It is part of a larger interactive storytelling platform that contextualizes the experience of transnational migrants within perceptions of the local boundaries.

Christo is in the Media Studies MA program at The New School and holds a BA is in History and International Relations from Trinity Western University.
