Intensive/Extensive Cartography
Christopher Trice’s work draws from a background in philosophy, music production and sound design. He is currently completing a video series entitled Still Life and is developing a short film tentatively titled Zeno’s Image Paradox. Beyond this film work, he is currently researching the Soviet montage theories of Sergei Eisenstein and Dziga Vertov and their connection to the establishment of the notion of post-production. He has written on the evocation of Emmanuel Levinas in Jean-Luc Godard’s Notre Musique and an analysis of modern film scores for Vertov’s Man with a Movie Camera. Research for future work currently centres on Henri Bergson’s concept of the memory-image as a model for approaching Godard’s reclamation of montage in Histoire(s) du cinema.
Susanne Wagner takes part in the master’s programme Kulturwissenschaftliche Medienforschung of the Faculty of Media of the Bauhaus University Weimar. Currently she is a research assistant at the Internationales Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie (IKKM) in Weimar. In 2011 she has been a research student at the Graduiertenkolleg Media of History – History of Media (Erfurt, Jena, Weimar), working on a project about the construction of human images by anthropometric practices in ethnology around 1900. Her interests mainly include the interactions between (moving) images, perception and knowledge and problems of visual representation. Susanne.Wagner [at] uni-weimar.de
